3 (More) Cool Things
My first piece of legislation to pass the Senate, celebrating Korean-Alaska Friendship, and SB 52 has its first hearing in the Senate Finance Committee.
Brain Injury Awareness Month
A few weeks ago, SB 46, an act to recognize March as Brain Injury Awareness Month in perpetuity passed the Alaska State Senate. As is tradition for a Senator’s first bill, my Senate colleagues voted against the legislation before changing their votes in the affirmative. After those shenanigans, the bill passed unanimously and has been transferred to House State Affairs Committee.
Honoring the Alaska-Korea Relationship
I was proud to carry the Senate companion to House Joint Resolution 4, which recognizes the long friendship between the Republic of Korea and Alaska. The resolution was signed into law March 31, 2023.
Increasing the Base Student Allocation
It is my privilege to carry the top priority legislation for the Alaska Senate Majority, SB 52, an act to increase the base student allocation. Last week, Senate Education Committee Aide Mike Mason and I presented the legislation to the Senate Finance Committee. Watch the full hearing on KTOO Gavel Alaska.
Public testimony is still open, so please consider submitting your comments to the Senate Finance Committee. The committee’s email address is senate.finance.committee@akleg.gov.
