This week’s episode of The Empty Office Podcast features a great conversation with longtime lawmaker Scott Kawasaki from Fairbanks about the efforts to pass election and campaign finance reform legislation. Senator Kawasaki also reacts to the failed attempt to override Governor Dunleavy’s veto of a bipartisan compromise bill to increase education funding across the State of Alaska.
Scott Kawaski holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedicine from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is a former member of the Fairbanks City Council. Kawasaki served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 2007 to 2018 and was elected to the State Senate in 2018 in one of the biggest upset victories in Alaska’s political history.
Sen. Kawasaki chairs the Senate State Affairs Committee and has taken the lead in trying to pass election reform legislation during the 33rd Alaska State Legislature. Sen. Kawasaki is a fabulous cook and is well known for the food he prepares almost daily for lawmakers and staff in the Alaska State Legislature.
